Our tastefully furnished and bright apartments are located in one of the most beautiful places in Sicily, on a small island, just a few meters from the mainland. The island – connected to the mainland by three bridges – is the old historical center of Siracusa and is called – Ortigia.

The narrow streets of Ortigia with its colorful houses and the close proximity to the sea make this place very special. The small island is of enormous historical importance and is completely under monument protection. Since 2005 Ortigia belongs to the world cultural heritage of UNESCO.

Everywhere here you can breathe the breath of antiquity and feel the magic of historical ambience – whether you are interested in the fortress Castello Maniace, in the Cathedral of Santa Maria delle Colonne – which marks the highest point of Ortigia – or in the Temple of Apollo from the 6th century BC.

In the streets of the old town you can feel a special pulsating energy: countless restaurants, bars, cafes, boutiques and galleries exude southern charm and brim with spirited liveliness.

Park your car in one of the many parking garages, because Ortigia is a real treat, especially on foot!

From north to south you need no more than about 30 minutes on foot, from west to east only about 20 minutes.

On the Sicilian east coast – we think it is the most beautiful coast of Sicily – there are numerous, beautiful beaches – of course also near our apartments.

Enjoy your day at the sea – maybe our tips will help you!

• You can’t reach the beaches on foot, but you can reach them by car or by bus. Within a quarter of an hour, or even 20 minutes, depending on your bathing destination, you can be there.

• There are numerous public beaches, but also many „beach clubs“ that provide a variety of amenities, such as umbrellas, restaurants, bars, and of course lifeguards to supervise the beach.

• We have listed a few beaches below – in any case, we recommend that you check the internet again for current changes before visiting the beach. As with the restaurants on Ortigia, prices and opening hours of the beaches and „beach clubs“ can change or current events can occur that prevent a visit to the beach.

• Access to the sea varies depending on the beach: either „normally“ via the sandy beach or via stairs and footbridges over rocky terrain.

• Especially the Sicilian east coast has a very good water quality.

Lido Le Nereidi – Spiaggia Arenella – in Siracusa is a real super beach and only about 20 minutes by car from Ortigia. Le Nereidi is a little more luxurious and not a children’s beach to our taste, but it can organise birthday parties, ceremonies and themed dinners for you on request.

A public beach surrounded by enchanting dunes and lakes. Little frequented, relaxing especially in July and August.

The beach is located between Isola delle Correnti and Capo Passero. The strong currents that divide the Mediterranean Sea and the Ionian Sea are a natural spectacle.

This sandy beach is located 8 kilometers from Portopalo, at the southernmost tip of southern Sicily, where the Ionian Sea meets the Mediterranean.

This sandy beach is located near Marzamemi. Those who like snorkeling will love the rocky landscape.

Between Portopalo and Marzamemi you will find this coarse-grained beach lapped by crystal clear waters. Morghella is very crowded in summer.

Our apartments, which will be completely rebuilt and completely refurnished in the summer of 2022, cover a total area of about 330 square meters and have been redesigned for you according to our own high standards.

We offer our guests 4 very nicely furnished apartments, arranged on 2 levels. One apartment you will find on the first floor, 3 apartments on the 1st floor of a beautiful listed house in the middle of the alleys of Ortigia.

The following aspects were very important to us when we redesigned the rooms:

• High sleeping comfort, high quality beds and mattresses
• Well controllable air conditioning
• Soundproof windows with blackout possibility

• Sufficient power supply (sockets)
• Functional and sensible bathroom design
• Individually possible combination of individual apartments to create larger, self-contained, units

The 3 apartments on the 1st floor can be booked individually and combined – 2 smaller and one large – or all together. Then 12 adults and three children can sleep here. And of course the courtyard apartment can be booked as well.

We are flexible.

You have different possibilities to book apartments with us.

One apartment is located on theground floor and is accessible through the courtyard.

Another 3 apartments are located on the first floor. These are two apartments, each consisting of one room, or one room and a kitchen. And a larger apartment, which consists of three rooms, separate kitchen and a large roof terrace.

You can book all apartments separately, or combined. If you book all three apartments, you would „own“ the entire floor, so to speak. And of course you can book any of the apartments on the 1st floor in combination with the courtyard apartment.

Since our apartments are named after stars and a galaxy, you can of course also get your own „universe“ with us: Depending on availability, you can combine the Andromeda (03) apartment either with apartment elettra (01) or Antares (02) – Or book all 3 apartments and then be completely for themselves on the floor. And of course you can also include Sirio, the court apartment, in your planning.

The rental price for apartment combinations is a special tariff that you can ask for separately.

PATHS TO US

to and in Ortigia.

Catania

If you want to drive to Origia from Catania, the beautiful East Sicilian port city-e.g. from Fontanarossa Airport-first take the SP69i south and then the E45 towards Siracusa.

If you have taken the state road SS114 towards Augusta in Catania instead of the E45, it will later also move into the E45 in the amount of Augusta.

The 65 kilometer drive from Catania airport takes about an hour. Alternatively, you can take a coach from Catania. There are buses run by private companies to Ortiga every day.

Ragusa

If you want to go to Ortigia from Ragusa, there are of course different possibilities. Our tip: first drive to the southeastern town of Rosolini. There you can take the E45 and drive north towards Siracusa.
The drive from Ragusa to Ortigia takes about 1 hour 30 minutes.

Palermo

If you have flown to Palermo – Punta Raisi and want to go to Ortigia from here, you have to cross Sicily almost completely. By car you have to plan about 3 and a half hours of driving for the approximately 390Km long distance.

There are also different routes to Siracusa, one of them is this one:
Take the E90 east along Sicily’s north coast and then, from about Buonfornello, follow the A19 through the middle of Sicily to Catania. From there, take the E45 and SS124 to Siracusa and Ortigia.

Two bridges towards vacation

If you shy away from traveling by car, you can of course take public transportation. Siracusa is served by a large number of trains. Among them are very fast train connections from northern Italy, whose trains are loaded onto a cargo ship at the Calabrian mainland and brought across the strait to Messina.

Arriving by car actually works surprisingly well if you are able to adapt to the heavy traffic. When you reach Siracusa and want to visit Ortigia, you are well advised to „get rid“ of your car.

The alleys on Ortigia are often so narrow that they are hardly passable. In addition, due to the numerous one-way streets, you often have to take detours.

You can leave your car at one of the many parking lots. This is possible everywhere in Siracusa, also in the area of the two bridges, before entering Ortigia or shortly after.

For example, the parking garage Talete in the north of the peninsula. From there it is only a few minutes walk to the first sights of the island – and to the apartments.

Finally there!

Once you have entered the island of Ortigia and left the Ponte Santa Lucia behind you, the way to our Five Stars Sicily apartments is almost done.

Just keep going straight until you reach Via dell‘ Apolonion and follow it until it turns into Via Resalibera. Number 13 is your destination address – our apartments are located in the corner house to Via S. Pietro.
